I will admit that drama's and western's aren't my favorite type of movie to begin with, but unfortunately I still had a really hard time getting in to "Cry Macho", although not as hard of a time as Clint Eastwood's prior theatrical film "The Mule"šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Set in 1978, "Cry Macho" stars Clint Eastwood as Miko, a once upon a time rodeo star, and horse breeder, who is asked by his former boss, or more like is offered a job by his former boss (played by Dwight Yoakam) to go and fetch his son from his drunken all the time mother in Mexico. After Miko finds his boss's son, Rafa (played by Eduardo Minett) at a cock-fight (no-thanks to a tip from his mother), Rafa is a bit hesitant to head back to America with him, but eventually begins to warm up after Miko tells him more about how his Father wants him to come live with him. Unfortunately Rafa's mother is not happy with the situation, and after Miko refuses to sleep with her, she has him escorted out of her home, and threatens him with attempted kidnapping if he takes Rafa with him. Once down the road a bit...Miko finds himself a surprise in the back of his truck.....yup, Rafa. Rafa really does want to go live with his father, and escape the abusive life that he lives with his Mother. After hearing how abusive of a life Rafa has had living in his Mother's home, Miko eventually gives in and agrees to take him to his father still. As they travel and learn a thing or two from one another on the way back to the border, they will also have to keep the police, and Rafa's mother's goons off of their tail.

As I mentioned above, unfortunately I just couldn't get into this moviešŸ˜•šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø For instance it was a very dull, and a slow mover, plus to be honest it seemed like it didn't really go anywhere even in the end...

Like I also mentioned, these kinds of movies are not particularly my favorite, but I will say that I did enjoy the Clint Eastwood film "Gran Torino" when it was released. The story, and acting here is definitely not as strong unfortunately.

All in all I personally think if "Cry Macho" interests you, maybe check it out? It's nothing special at all, but like I said I don't think I am the specific demographic for this filmšŸ˜„

"Cry Macho" is now playing in theaters, and streaming for a limited time on HBO Max for 31 days (until October 17th), but will eventually return to the streaming platformšŸŽ¬
