ZETUS LAPETUS!! Welcome to this week's edition of DCOM Flashback Fridays🎬🔙✨

Today I am revisiting the first Disney Channel Original Movie of the year 1999, "Zenon Girl Of The 21st Century"✨💫👩‍🚀

13 year old Zenon Carr (played by Kirsten Storms), is a mischievous, but intelligent 13 year old that just so happens to live on an earth-orbiting community space station in the year 2049. When Zenon's good intentioned antics get her in big trouble with the space station's captain, Captain Plank (played by Stuart Pankin), Mom & Dad (who work on the station as scientific engineers), make the incredibly difficult decision to send her to live with her Aunt Judy (played by Holly Fulger), on Earth, more or less for a change atmosphere. Zenon is incredibly frustrated and disappointed by her parents decision as she had just won a contest to dance on stage with her favorite pop star, Proto Zoa (played by Phillip Rhys), and his band Microbe (since they are coming to perform on the space station), but Zenon takes her lean cuisine box colored clothing and hops on the shuttle to Earth. To her disgust, she has fly to earth with Parker Wyndham, a real greedy big shot who owns the space station (but resides on Earth)...however Zenon has a hunch that Wyndham plans to mess with the computer & wiring of the space station to have it come crashing down in order to earn more money, and she's right! While at at first feeling a bit uneasy on earth, Zenon becomes close with a boy named Greg (played by Gregory Smith). and a group of his friends, Andrew (played by Brendan Richard Jefferson), Matt (played by Zach Lipovsky), and the not as welcoming Margie (played by Lauren Maltby). While Zenon begins to fall for Greg, she is still upset and wants to try to hatch a plan so she can make her way back to the space station in order to stop whatever it is that Wyndham has up his sleeve. With the help of Zenon's new group of friends, can she make her way home before home comes crashing down on her?

While I wouldn't go as far as saying it's one of the best, I will declare that "Zenon: Girl Of the 21st Century" is one of Disney Channel's better original movies from the late 90's/early 2000's! I do know that I have fond memories of watching this one🙂 For a DCOM made in 1999, this was some '"major" family friendly futuristic fun! The sequels: not so much!

The character of Zenon can be a bit annoying at times, but she definitely has that spark of determination! My personal favorite character is Aunt Judy😄 She is just so bubbly & peaceful!

I know a few things that I always got a kick out of with this movie, and it's sequels were the cotton candy/lean cuisine box colored wardrobe, and the made up vocabulary😂 And who could forget the "Supernova Girl" song at the end💫🎶 Zoom Zoom Zoom, Make My Heart Go Boom Boom Boom💫🎶 Very catchy!

Consensus: For it's time, "Zenon: Girl Of The 21st Century" seemed quite impressive for a TV movie, and it is still nostalgic and pretty fun to watch today🙂💫👩‍🚀 In my opinion, the movie is more enjoyable when on earth rather than in orbit, but I do love the colorful space station setting🤷‍♂️
