Good afternoon everyone! Who's ready for some much needed laughter? Well that's what you'll hopefully be getting with my newest movie review series, "February Funnies"😂🎬 Every Wednesday (or HUMP DAY) at 12:00pm, in February you can find a comedy movie review right here on my blog😉 First up, I am revisiting one of my all time favorites, the ACA-AWESOME "Pitch Perfect"!

In case you've been living under a rock, and have never seen "Pitch Perfect", the film follows an all girl college A Cappella girl group, known as "The Barden Bellas" whom after an embarrassing defeat to the all male Treblemakers (also from Barden University) at the ACCA Final's the year prior, are in search of some fresh faces with Aguleirian pipes to rebrand themselves. Then comes a long Becca Mitchell (played by Anna Kendrick), an aspiring music producer, and Freshman at Barden University, who is also feeling the pressure to put herself out there from her father (a professor at the University). Making her way out to the activities fair, where she plans to sign up for an internship at the University's radio station, Becca is flagged down by Chloe Beale (played by Brittany Snow), and Aubrey Posen (played by Anna Camp), the remaining non-graduated members of the Barden Bellas, who are more interested in her looks than anything. After an awkward explanation about the Bella's, Becca ultimately declines their offer, and moves on to find the radio station where she finds herself working with a guy who shares the same passion for music (and also loves movies) Jesse Swanson (played by Skylar Astin). Even though Becca's musical talent lies mostly behind the computer screen, making remixes, and mashups, she keeps her fluttery singing voice to herself. Though not for long! She is soon confronted by Chloe in the most uncomfortable of locations (in the shower room), after hearing Becca crooning out the David Guetta & Sia hit "Titanium", further encouraging her to audition for the Bella's. Auditions for the newest Treblemaker's and Barden Bella's have arrived, and after hearing some rough acapella takes on Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone", the two groups have made their picks. Until Becca, pulls a Troy Bolton and arrives late to the audition, but delivering a uniquely original audition. Chloe is beyond impressed! Jesse males it into the Treblemakers. As for the Bella's: Fat Amy (the best character in the entire franchise, played by Rebel Wilson), Stacy (a sex addict, played by Alexis Knapp), Cynthia Rose (a lesbian, with a gambling problem, played by Ester Dean), Lilly (an extremely strange, soft spoken being, played by Hanna Mae-Lee), Ashley (who's literally been there the entire time, played by Shelley Regner), Jessica (played by Kelley Jakle, who's also literally been there the entire time), Denise (the background Bella, who doesn't get any lines, played by Wanetah Walmsley), and last but not least....Becca Mitchell👏👏 Now, here comes the fun: as rehearsal's and practice for their upcoming competitions begin, things aren't off to a good start😬 Aubrey, the cause of the Bella's embarrassing loss at Finals the year prior, is a bit (no, a lot) stubborn, and when Becca begins to share some advice by offering to apply her music producing skills, to help create arrangements for their performances, Aubrey will not have it! Unfortunately for the rest of The Bella's, Becca's ideas might just be the refreshing makeover that this ACA-Awkward group needs🤷‍♂️

While I feel like A Cappella has unfortunately become less Aca-Popular over the years, for it's time in 2012, "Pitch Perfect" was something fresh, and hilariously entertaining as well! Even spawning the viral hit "Cups (When I'm Gone)" and it's unforgettable plastic cup music routine. Prior to this movie, I was personally aware of what A Cappella was, but for many people this may have been their introduction, and what a fun introduction at that! When I was in middle school or high school, I went to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, and their was an A Capella group that was putting on a few shows there called "Toxic Audio". I think we went to see them twice during our stay because I enjoyed them so much! What was also cool about them, was that they incorporated comedy in their sets🎶😂 Make sure to check out their music!

I really love everything about this movie! The dry humor, the physical humor, the music, the mashups, the remixes, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson. Just an all around enjoyable film in my opinion. The banter between all of the Bella's is just oh so quotable throughout, especially from the ICON "FAT AMY"😂 I also really appreciated the tribute to Jesse's love for movies in the final performance as well👏👏🎬🍿

Consensus: "Pitch Perfect" is one of my all time favorite comedies...a fresh for it's time remix on the A Capella scene, filled with humorous characters, and a fun soundtrack🎶🎬😂

The Ray J's Reviews Consensus is:

5 out of 5 uncontrollable outbursts of laughter

😂🤣😂🤣😂
