New morning, new movie review! Today I present to you all my review of the direct to digital - family friendly film "A Cowgirl's Song".

After her innocent father is put in prison for unknowingly assisting a good friend steal TV's, an aspiring singer named Hailey (played by Savannah Lee May) travels with her sister, Brooke (played by Darci Lynne Farmer, of "America's Got Talent" fame) to the town where he is being held. Once there, they stay with their Grandmother (played by Cheryl Lad), who is a semi-retired famous country singer, so they can try and come up with the bail money for their father, and get him a proper trial.

Let me start out by stating the good. "A Cowgirl's Song" is harmless, and is perfectly fine to watch with the entire family!

Now, I am not one to nit pick movies, and I understand this probably didn't have much of budget to go off of in the first place, however there are certain things decision wise in this film that made me shake my head! In the beginning, the two sisters find out their father has been put in jail via their mother (and he specifically explains to her what happened), so she hangs up the phone and goes to work, (then you only see her two other times throughout the rest of the movie). Hailey and Brooke, who so over dramatically want to see their father in jail as if he's committed murder, travel almost forty miles via horse and carriage, until they make an unplanned stop for the night after getting lost, which you could've fooled me that it wasn't planned since they had marshmallows with them😂 Of course the mother shows back up once they arrive to the grandmother's, only to immediately leave again...The most sensical part in the entire script comes towards the very end, and what a coincidence, since the line literally mentions common sense! HA!

Yeah, the acting wasn't anything special, and I don't think Darci Lynne Farmer should plan on putting actress down as a permanent part of her resume. Cheryl Lad as the grandmother was definitely the best out of the actors. Dodger Prince who plays Rufus, was just plain awful!

I feel like your opinion on the songs will depend on whether you enjoy country music or not. I am not a huge country music fan, so although the music had some nice lyrics, I thought it was boring🤷‍♂️

Consensus: Some might not care, but there are far better (but also much worse) options to sit down and watch with your family besides "A Cowgirl's Song". A bland country music fundraiser, that may just leave some viewers rolling their eyes...
