Based on a true story: "Everybody's Talking About Jamie" is a fierce, and heartfelt musical film, featuring emotionally acted performances from the lead star Max Harwood, and also Sarah Lancashire.

"This is a real story. We just added the music and dancing"! are the words that open this delightful, and raw film about Jamie New (portrayed by Max Harwood), a confident gay 16 year old boy with the most supporting mother (portrayed by Sarah Lancashire), and best friend, Pritti (portrayed by Lauren Patel). Instead of pursuing a boring, and basic career, Jamie dreams of being a drag queen, and he's not letting anybody or anything hold him back from the spotlight! Although Jamie beams with confidence, he does struggle with insecurities and some bullying at school. His mother and father are separated, and his father does not come around much. While Jamie hopes that his Dad is proud of him, that is unfortunately not the case. Jamie's mother hides the truth from him that the reason his father stays distant is because of how different Jamie is, and because of the fact that he told her that he is not the son he wanted. But with all of the loving support Jamie already has, and the support he will eventually find, the spotlight is ready for him, and everyone will be talking!

I enjoyed this movie! I enjoyed the rawness in the storytelling, and some of the acting performances are just too special, they need to be seen!

While some of the music is a bit underwhelming, there are a couple of highlights, including the opening number "Don't Even Know It", the amazing 80/90's dance club ballad "This Was Me" which gave me incredible Elton John vibes, "Work of Art" is a bit of a "Vogue" Madonna tribute, the same name song & performance "Everybody's Talking About Jamie" is quite humorous, and the song that Sarah Lancashire (as Jamie's Mom) sings, "He's My Boy", is so emotional, and the actress herself was just a delight to watch🎶

It was so nice to see how much support Jamie has in this movie, considering how many out there like him do not have it as lucky! His relationship with his mom was so heartwarming to behold, and his best friend, Pritti, is as sweet as can be😄

I know this film is definitely not for everyone, but if it does interest you, I recommend! The characters are all very likable, especially Jamie's Mom, she's the best!

"Everybody's Talking About Jamie" is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video🎬👠👠✨
