Ray J's Review - "Sonic The Hedgehog 2"

Sonic the Hedgehog is back for a bigger, action packed, and super fun sequel🦔💙⚡️💨 May I present to you my review!

I will go ahead and put it out there that I am not familiar with the video games, so please keep that in mind🙂

Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) is Hedgehog of the house, as Tom (played by James Marsden), and Maddie (played by Tika Sumpter), head off to Hawaii for Maddie's sister, Rachel's (played by Natasha Rothwell) wedding. Sonic gets a terrifying surprise as his Arch-Nemesis Dr. Robotnik (played by Jim Carrey) shows up (having escaped the mushroom planet that Sonic banned him to at the end of the first movie), but he is not alone. "Sonic, meet Knuckles". Sonic may have just met his match, as Knuckles (a red Echidna, voiced by Idris Elba) seems to be unstoppable. Knuckles explains that it is his mission to avenge the legacy of his fallen tribe, and assumes Sonic knows the location of the "Master Emerald", which holds an incredible power. However, another surprise awaits Sonic as he is swooped up and saved by an oh so adorable yellow fox, who goes by the name, Tails (voiced by Colleen O' Shaughnessy). Now, Sonic and Tails must figure out how to get to the Master Emerald before Knuckles, and Robotnik (who really just wants it for himself now that he knows about it) find it, while also trying to hide the situation from Tom, and Maddie.

As I mentioned above, I am not super familiar with the video games, but I thought the first Sonic film was fine, although I wished there was a bit more oomph to it. Well let me tell you all that "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" blew away all of my expectations, and is an absolute blast for the entire family! Leveling up big time, with new friends, thrilling action sequences, and extremely well done visuals!

I know this seems kind of odd to say, but in an age where the majority of family film's lately have been animated (and you all know I love me some animation), it is delightful to see a live action-CGI hybrid that has something for everyone. Action, humor, heart, surprises...you name it, it's here😄

As far as acting performances, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik🤯 That is all! So much fun! I also really enjoyed Natasha Rothwell (as Rachel) who is absolutely hilarious😂🤣😂 Loved her storyline this time around too!

Consensus: "Sonic The Hedgehog 2" is a major upgrade from the first film - the ultimate family entertainment package rolled up into a spiky blue ball🤩 The two hour run time speeds by as fast as Sonic himself, packed with action, smooth visuals, humor and heart💙🦔🎬
