For week two of my "Spring Animation Awakening" movie review series, I am getting a lil bit goofy🤪

In "A Goofy Movie" we meet Max (voiced by Jason Marsden), the teenage son of the classic Disney character, who is having some major anxiety that he will one day inherit all of his dad's goofy traits. After an attempt to impress his crush, Roxanne (voice by Kellie Martin) in school, Max gets in big trouble with the principal which instills fears in Goofy (voice by Bill Farmer) that his son could become a baddy. After receiving some advice from a familiar acquaintance, Goofy decides to load up the station wagon, so he and Max can bond on a cross-country road trip. However, Max has a few mischievous tricks up his sleeves. Since he had planned to attend a concert watch party of everyone's favorite singer "Powerline" at a friend's house, Max has to come up with an excuse to tell Roxanne why he will not be at the party - so he tells her that his Dad is friends with Powerline, and that they are driving to the concert in California to dance on stage with him. Now, Max has to figure out how to trick his already gullible father into making their way to California without him knowing. Sometimes part of a road trip is getting lost, but you eventually find your way, and just because your bad decisions lead you down one road, doesn't mean you can't turn around and head towards the true destination.

Overall, "A Goofy Movie" is an enjoyable watch, but leaves a bit more to be desired. It's a super short film, and I think it's an excellent movie for younger kids (especially sons and fathers to watch together). As I mentioned above, I really love the messages, and the usage of a zany road trip to get across that if your life is heading in the wrong direction, you can surely turn it around if you meet people halfway and just listen.

I really enjoy the nostalgic 90's animation of this movie. It's so colorful, and as a 1991 baby it really reminds you of a more simpler time🙂

You know me, I typically enjoy most movies that feature songs, and music numbers, so "A Goofy Movie" is no different😄🎶 There are around five songs I think, but my absolute favorites are "I2I" and "Stand Out" which are sung by the film's superstar 'Powerline' (voiced by singer Tevin Campbell)...80's/90's music goodness right here😌 I also really like the opening song "After Today" which is sung by Max and his school mates....really fun!

Consensus: Even though "A Goofy Movie" isn't quite on par with the basket of other classics that Disney served to us in the 90's, it's a brisk watch with fun music, and meaningful messages that I think Dad's and Son's will appreciate most🤪💚🚗🎶🎬
